Stewart Armitage - Tenor Saxophone
My first exploits into music started at the age of 7 playing recorder at primary school. I then moved on to the piano at the age of 9 and the saxophone from age 11. After reaching grade 5 on piano I stopped lessons to concentrate on the sax and achieved grade 8 by the time I was 17.
My first band experience was with the local music centre, South Downs Youth Concert Band who I played with until I left school. I had a break from playing for about 7 years due to university and jobs that involved a lot of working away. After finding a job that didn't involve travelling I started playing again with a couple of local concert bands and dance bands and finally joined CMCB in 2003 after being invited along by my future wife.
I now play tenor sax alongside Karen Armitage (alto sax) and have 3 children aged 14yrs, 5yrs and 3yrs who keep us busy outside of band.
